RECIPES OF THE WORLD: PHO BO

If there is a Vietnamese dish, which all backpackers remember with love is the PHO BO: the delicious veal soup good, beautiful and cheap! If you feel like learning to prepare the richest soup in Vietnam ... here is the pho bo recipe!

Ingredients (for two people)

  • 1/2 liter of broth (can be prepared with zahanaoria, onion, ginger, chicken wings, beef, cinnamon sticks, anise and pepper. In Vietnam they also use intestines to prepare the broth, but I pass hehe)
  • Noodles
  • 100g beef steak
  • 1 handful of bean sprouts
  • 1 handful of peppermint
  • 1 handful of coriander
  • 1 file in quarters
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce (Nuoc mam) (can be substituted with soy)
  • 1 green onion
  • 2 red chilis
  • Salt and pepper

Elaboration:

  1. Cook the noodles in water and in another casserole prepare the broth.
  2. We cut the beef fillets in slices as thin as possible (similar to Carpaccio) and put them in the broth to cook them (it will only take 1-2min).
  3. In a plate / bowl we put the noodles that will be ready, the bean sprouts, the chopped scallion, the chilis (thinly sliced).
  4. Add the broth and veal, season with lime, soy or fish sauce and salt / pepper to taste
