If a few days ago we tell you what have been the places that we liked most of the North Island of New Zealand, today we return with our classification of the most beautiful places of the South Island.

1- LAKES AREA

We knew that Lake Tekapo was fantastic, and it was. But when we reached Lake Pukaki we were speechless: the turquoise water more turquoise in the world and as a culmination of Mount Cook in the background ... just perfect!

Our experience: LAKOS TEKAPO AND PUKAKI

2- QUEENSTOWN

We live and work in Queenstown for 3 months and we remember it with a lot of morriña: the capital of adventure sports is a city from head to toe, or what is the same, from the blue waters of its lake to the hill of the Skyline! Without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Our experience: FIRST (AND LAST) STEPS IN QUEENSTOWN

3- MILFORD SOUND

A legend of New Zealand, and rightly so: navigating the Milford Fjords with the wind in the face and the splashing water of the waterfalls surrounding us was an unforgettable experience (the fish & chips and the ice cream of the ship didn't taste bad to us either) ).

Our experience: IN THE LAND OF THE FIORDS

4- COOK MOUNT

The highest mountain in New Zealand may not be in this top 10. We weren't very lucky: when we paid him a visit, the very shy one decided to hide behind the clouds but at dusk he showed us his face ... we were satisfied.

Our experience: FACE TO FACE WITH COOK MOUNT

5- WEST COAST

A real surprise: we found the west cost incredibly beautiful and wild (although we stayed with the northern part to the pancake rocks: the glacier area let us down a lot, but we'll talk about this in the future 'flop 10').

Our experience: DISCOVERING THE WEST COAST

6- KAIKOURA

Sea lions, delicious seafood, snow-filled mountains and wild waves: Kaikoura (minus the seafood, damn budget backpacker!) Received us like this and we left wanting to return.

Our experience: KAIKOURA, LOVE AT A GLANCE

7- OTAGO PENINSULA

Cliffs, blue waves, green meadows and golden beaches ... the Otago Peninsula is the getaway that we all would like to have nearby. It is not pretentious but precisely because of this it has conquered us: simple and genuine.

Our experience: DUNEDIN AND THE OTAGO PENINSULA

8- NUGGET POINT

One of the most emblematic places on the south island, a beautiful snapshot, a panorama that takes away the hiccups: the Nugget Point was the reward for all the sandly bites of the trip on the road by the nature reserve The Catlins.

Our experience: THE CATLINS, AL LADITO DEL POLO SUR

9- MOERAKI BOULDERS

Formations without logical explanation, one of the most mysterious places in New Zealand (and the world!), The moeraki's round rocks are impressive and super photogenic.

Our experience: MOERAKI BOULDERS

10- ABEL TASMAN

Things as they are: Abel Tasman is beautiful, in fact for many it is one of the best trekkings in New Zealand but there is a but... we expected more and it is that while we were walking through this National Park we seemed to be on the Costa Brava that is wonderful and that we already know. No, Abel Tasman did not surprise us and therefore we left him in the last place of our top 10 in New Zealand, South Island.

Our experience: TREKKING AT ABEL TASMAN

Do you agree with our top 10? Are you missing something? Soon we will make a ranking with the sites that let us down most in New Zealand ... don't miss it!
