Have you ever stopped to think about the fate of having the Balearic Islands "at home"? Already worth so much Thailand, Riviera Maya and Maldives: paradise is about an hour away! There are five islands, one prettier than the other, with lots of amazing corners. In this post we will talk about the best known island of all: Majorca. If you have never been there it is time to remedy it! We are going to tell you some things to see and do in Mallorca and that can help you to get to know the island more closely.

Mallorca is a paradise for sea lovers, but What are the best beaches and coves in Mallorca? Here we tell you:

- Palma Beach. White sand, blue waves and the historic center of the city of Palma de Mallorca a few kilometers ... the beach of Palma mola and much!

- Cala Mesquida. Sin doubt one of the most beautiful corners of Mallorca, Cala Mesquida has transparent waters and a lot of atmosphere. It is seven kilometers from Capdepera.

- Coll Baix beach.Access is not super simple but the effort is well worth the reward: turquoise waters, cliffs that protect you and few people with whom to share paradise ... I did not think twice! It is 8 km from Alcudia.

- Sa Canova beach. One of the least crowded and most virgin corners of the island. There is usually a lot of wind so if your thing is windsurfing do not think about it and come here. You will find it near the urbanization of Son Serra de Marina, 11 kilometers from Can Picafort.

- Cala Varques.Surrounded by pine trees, Cala Varques attracts a handful of curious not only for its white sand and crystal clear waters but also because here is a curious cave that will make more than one lover of caving happy. In its vicinity there are other small coves also very cool! This unspoiled beach is 12 km from Portocristo.

- Es Trenc beach. Can we say it? It doesn't matter that in summer you are not going to be alone precisely ... the beach of Es Trenc is wonderful. The waters are super crystalline and from there you can see the island of Cabrera. An unforgettable place in the town of Campos.

- Cala el Mago.Golden sand, blue waters and the occasional nudist in this small cove of Calviá.

- Cala de Sa Calobra. In an idyllic setting in the Sierra de Tramuntana is this small cove between steep cliffs. To get there you will have to travel a road full of curves, but it will be worth it.

- Cala Pi. South of Palma can be a good place to relax and get a little out of the capital's move.

And why not take advantage of the crystalline waters to start in the world of scuba diving? Mallorca is a perfect island to discover its seabed, nothing better than in a diving baptism!

If you prefer to surf instead, you know there are lots of tours. This for example, is a 5-hour catamaran ride (includes lunch) and costs € 55.

Cala Varques, Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca It is a city that we liked from the first moment (we also discovered a little where they made some Milanese with mushroom sauce the sea of good and cheap, although we do not remember or where it is or as it is called, sorry!). But not only Milanese-Mallorcan lives the traveler, in Palma you will find many surprises, such as its beautiful Cathedral, Paseo del Borne, Bellver Castle, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, the Jewish quarter Call, the fishing district Es Jonquet and much more!

As always, we recommend that you do a free walking tour (in Palma there are several options like this) or some more rare tour like this.

Palma is a jewel ... but it is not the only one: Mallorca is dotted with small towns to which more beautiful. We recommend you go through these two (at least):

- Andratx.Whenever I read his name, a hybrid between Obelix and the Antrax comes to mind but no ... it has nothing to do with it: if you want to visit a coastal town surrounded by cliffs, islands and a beautiful sea, don't think about it and put a pushpin in the map!

- Port D'Antratx. And since you are, take a walk around its port, with lots of restaurants and cafes. The atmosphere is lovely!

- Pollença.Small city founded by the Romans where to walk, visit the Gothic chapel of the Roser Vell and take a cool rod. And if you coincide with the “Moors and Christians” parties on August 2, you will have a great time!

- Valldemossa: To the north of Palma in the Serra de Tramuntana, this small stone town stands. From there you can also enjoy nature, read the next point ...

And other recommended towns are Soller, Alcudia, Capdepera or Artá. (Thanks Miss Pi for the info).

Try to visit a few because they are one of the best things what to see and do in Mallorca

If you think that in Mallorca there are only beaches, Germans and beach bars you are very wrong: Tramuntana mountain range (about 15 km from Palma) is a perfect place for hiking and trekking.

In the Island of Mallorca there are also Natural Parks such as S'Albufera de Mallorca It is worth visiting to enjoy unbeatable views and see local fauna and flora (for example, my water cock is very funny, although of course ... you can also see it on a nudist beach, but this is another issue: -D)

And another natural park is that of Mondrago, southeast of the island, with beautiful coves and landscapes to spend a couple of days. Also nearby is the Cala Figuera super cool!

When we visited Mallorca, a couple of years ago, we did it by car ... and it was a success! The freedom it gives you is priceless (well, let the rent go!) And we do not regret it at all (especially since we stopped every 4 seconds to take pictures). Renting a car in Mallorca and doing a roadtrip is always a good plan! The car allows you to enter and discover sites that you would not otherwise. If you prefer you can get on a motorcycle too. If you want to book it in advance look here.

You can start in Palma de Mallorca and tour the north of the island, spend the night in an interesting place in the Sierra de Tramuntana, to reach theCap Formentor, the northernmost point, passing through wonderful villages and corners.

* If you want to get to this great place but you don't have a car, there are tours that run through this area from Alcudia.

If you are a professional caver, or you just want to get inside a cave and see what it feels like, Mallorca is great: there are many caves on the island although the “Caves of Drac ” and the “Hams Caves”They take the palm of Mallorca. You can do it on your own or on a tour like this and / or this

With how sweet we are we couldn't stop including a mini gastronomic section! In Mallorca you can NOT miss the most typical specialties such as sobrasada, the cocas and obviously the ensaimada. But you can also discover other less famous, although equally delicious as the Baked rubiols, brut rice, tumbet or wind fritters.

Also, if you have time, you can take a ferry to visit nearby Ibiza and Menorca.

And you, do you know other things what to see and do in Mallorca? Tell us!
