Who said that Milan is a boring city is that it was never there. The capital of fashion is much more than a Duomo and luxury stores, and we already show you in this article. What we have not told you yet is that there are a few curiosities about the city. Here they go 20 curiosities of Milan.

If you want more information, visit our GUIDE TO A JOURNEY TO MILAN

1. Milan is not a city free of mysteries, in fact they say that it is ghost infested. A good example is that of Cecilia Galleriani (which Leonardo da Vinci drew in his famous painting "The Lady with l'ermellino"). Well, apparently the girl (well, her ghosts hehe) keeps going around her house, Carmagnola Palace.

2. Another famous ghost is that of a young bride who fell from the roof of the Duomo Just on your wedding day. They say that sometimes you can see him wandering around the cathedral ...

3. Although the most famous phantasmagoric figure in Milan is the veiled woman which often appears in the Castello Sforzesco. If you smell like flowers (and there isn't), it's that it's close to you (or so they say ... I'm just a messenger!).

4. Well ... it is the most famous if we don't consider John Lennon. No, we have not gone crazy, the spirit of The Beatles singer appeared 7 times near the Grand Hotel Duomo in Milan, the same one that in 1965 hosted the band during a tour.

5. Did you know that the Statue of Liberty is the copy (come on, it's just inspired) of a statue that is on the facade of the Duomo of Milan? We talked about the "Statue of the New Law", the work of Camillo Pacetti, which undoubtedly inspired the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty.

6. Another curiosity about the Duomo is that inside there are sculptures of saints and famous people, among which are the boxer Primo Carnero and the… ahem… Benito Mussolini!

7. One of the most famous legends of Milan has to do with ... the noble parts of a bull! Specifically the one that comes out in the central mosaic of the Galleria of Vittorio Emanuele. Apparently if you step on them with your foot and take 3 full turns, you'll be lucky.

8. If you visit the Basilica of San Ambrogio and you look at the columns of its square, you will see that one of them has two holes. Well, they say that the cause was the devil himself who, pissed off, hit them and got caught (happy ending: apparently he returned to hell).

9. In the 35 from Poerio Street is a house that is ... a copy of a house in New York. It is impossible not to notice it since it has nothing to do with the architecture of the city. But what does he do there? It is the "House 770" and in the original New York there lived a rabbi who moved there after escaping from the Nazis in Europe. He was such a wise and charismatic man that many Jews began to make replicas of his house. There are “770 houses” spread all over the world (Brazil, Argentina, Australia…) and yes, they are all the same!

10. The symbol of the city is a dragon (il biscione) which, among its jaws, has a young boy. Poor. What is its meaning? Just remember one of the great Milanese families: it was the emblem of the Visconti.

11. The Piazza Vetra It was the scene of the Inquisition: that's where burned witches and heretics.

12. Did you know that Giuseppe Verdi, one of the greatest Italian composers, did not pass the test to access the Milan Conservatory? Unexpected turn: today is called "Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi"!

13. One of the Argentine dishes dearest has a Milanese origin. The breaded (Now you understand, don't you?), it's simply a breaded steak, although in Argentina they gave it a special touch: toppings and sauces.

14. And one of the Typical products Milan is a Christmas dessert: the Panettone. A kind of bun that is prepared with brioche dough and candied fruit (grape, orange and lemon). So you know: if you travel to Milan during Christmas, to zampar panettone! (Although, the truth, we are more of Pandoro).

15. If you like morbid and somewhat overwhelming sites you have to approach the Chiesa di San Bernardino alle Ossa It was built in 1268 where before there was a cemetery and ... it is "decorated" with human bones.

16. If you travel to Milan as a couple, take him to the Mermaids Bridge in the Sempione Park. They say that if two lovers kiss here they will be together forever.

17. Milan suffered major damage during World War II because of bombing. It is estimated that there were about 60 bombings on the city that caused between 1,200 and 2,000 deaths and the destruction of 50% of the city.

18. Everyone knows that Milan is the fashion capital, but did you know that every year in the city of Lombard more than 700 parades?

19. The Scala Theater It is one of the most beautiful and luxurious in Italy. If you are going to visit it, look at the majestic chandelier of glass, formed by almost 400 light bulbs. Although many believe that it is Bohemian glass, the reality is that there are parts of plastic (but the savings have nothing to do ... it was decided to replace part of the glass because it was feared that the weight would be excessive and could fall).

20. One of the coolest areas of Milan, the Navigli, in the past they were quite marginal channels that were used to supply water to the city gardens. Today it is a fashionable place where the young city center is centered, with bars and bars.
