I love Tuscany. The first time I was there was for a trip from school. 5 days and 4 nights. I was 13 years old, and I speak of the 13 then, what an eye, they are not now! We were much less hustler, much more innocent, much more children. There was no Facebook, there was no Twitter, to tell the truth even mobile phones had not reached our lives. Come on, the middle ages.

And I don't know if chance or joke of destiny, the city we are going to talk about today is a medieval village lost in the Tuscan hills, among cypresses, sunflowers, olive trees and vineyards: San Gimignano.

I can't tell you what it is the most beautiful medieval city in the world, because you already know that Rober is from Sigüenza, and this would generate problems in our idyllic (¿) couple relationship, understand me! But believe me when I tell you that it is very worth approaching until the city of the towers, that's what they call it. And do you know why? No. Not because there are geek groupies of Fernando Torres, this is why:

Within its walls 14 towers (formerly 72) were guarded that the families of the Tuscan aristocracy had erected to express their wealth and power. You can climb, for example, to the Grossa tower, which with its 54 meters high will give you unforgettable views of the town and the Tuscan campaign.

This is undoubtedly its greatest treasure, but the attractions do not end here and as we love you, because you are the best readers in the world we are going to tell you everything there is what to see and do in San Gimignano:

- We can sit in the “Piazza della Cisterna” watching tourists and sangimignanenses (¿).

- If you like wine you can try the Vernaccia, a typical white of the area (and since we are, chop something! That Tuscan food is divine!)

- Visit the Duomo, especially for the quality of its frescoes on the walls and for its coolness you do visit it in summer (sacrilege!).

- Wander around the Cobbled streets in search of hidden treasures (or the best ice cream in the world!).

- If you are a little weird you might like the “Torture Museum” where you can see old instruments of torture (and some are still used in several countries: -O)

- If you like archeology there is a Museum interesting where to see Etruscan artifacts.

- Take a walk through the Tuscan campaign from where the best views of the city of the towers are found. Come on ... a super recommended excursion if you are in Florence and have time to get away in Tuscany!

The first thing you should do is go for a map of the city and ask for things on the Tourist office (In Piazza Duomo 1). For a full day it is worth taking out a combined ticket that covers the entrance to the Civic and Archaeological Museums, Torre Grossa, the Gallery of Modern Art, Santa Fina chapel, and Ornithological Museum. For about € 7.50 (adults), ask, since the offers and prices are usually modified frequently.

How to get to San Gimignano: If you travel from Florence You will have to take a train to Poggibonsi and from there a bus to San Gimignano. If you travel by car, take the Florence-Siena road to the town of Poggibonsi (north). From there follow the indications to San Gimignano.
