Day 1: Lloret de Mar - Albi

After a day of work in which we spend part of the morning in programming the social networks of Street Travelers for these next few days, after eating at home, we load the car and start moving towards one of the getaways "surprise"This year. We return to France, starting this afternoon in Albi in Midi-Pyrénées.
We have almost 400 kilometers to reach Albi, the place where we will sleep tonight and that we decided in the preparations for the trip to Midi-Pyrenees, from Lloret de Mar, which we do in two driving shifts, in just less than four hours.

The journey is comfortable and we do it between rain in some sections and a sun of justice in others, something that makes us think that at this time of year, anything is possible if we think about the weather. Although we are not going to deceive you, we hope that the weather is good these days and allows us to enjoy this part of France that we wanted to know so much.

Road to France

The first stretch of highway, even before arriving in France leaves us a hole of 10 euros, which remind us again how expensive tolls are and in a little over an hour, paying 10 euros of tolls are a good peak.
We pass by Carcasonne, where we were a few years ago and where we will surely return soon, to enjoy this area of France again.

We go in the direction of Toulousse, although we pass it around 6 in the afternoon and after paying 21 euros for the highway, we continue on the A61, on the way to the A68 that will take us on the way to Albi in Midi-Pyrénées.

Road to Toulousse

We go through another toll, as our friend Fabi had indicated, how well she knows this part of France and we follow our route.
We arrived to Albi in Midi-Pyrénées when it is 7 pm and we go straight to what will be our accommodation this first day of the trip to Midi-Pyrenees in 4 days, the Ibis Budget Center, which we chose to be in a very central area of the city, but apart Having free parking, something almost essential with the prices in France.
We leave our bags in the room after check-in and go straight to the opposite side of where we are, in front of the historical center of Albi, where there are a couple of viewpoints from which we have that perspective of the cathedral of Santa Cecilia de Albi with the Old Bridge, which we have seen so many times.

The sky at this time of day is a mixture of colors that touch the sunset, with blues and grays of the storm that seems to be coming.

Albi in Midi-Pyrénées

Today we have nothing planned to visit in Albi, we just want to get lost for a few minutes in this area of the city to have that first contact of the trip that we like so much.

The storm seems to not want to give us any more truce, so we go through the historic center of the city, passing through its incredible Covered Market, at this time already lit, looking for a place to shelter.

When we are traveling we adapt to local schedules and more when the next day, as tomorrow will happen we have so many things to do so today, given the fact that the closed night is approaching, we prefer to take a few photos while we walk through the Albi center, while we look for a place to dine.
We stop near the hotel, in Chez Carole, where we ask for a croque monsieur and a scallop with mushroom sauce, plus the water they put for free in most places in France, for 25 euros.
