WHAT TO DO A DAY IN VENICE (FREE OR ALMOST)

We take it for granted that you have not turned around in bed like a bear in lethargy and that soon in the morning you will already be arriving at the Venice Santa Lucia station. When leaving, after having suffered the first crush on Venice, you will have to go through the Barefoot Bridge and start touring the narrow and colorful streets of the city until the first stop: The Rialto Bridge. This is when we are going to recommend making a break: in Rialto you will find one of the most colorful and interesting markets in Venice, the Rialto market, name little fanciful but absolutely unmissable! If you don't want to become poor, you don't feel like having a drink in any bar in the square!

You can enter the Basilica for free, but you will have to queue for a while, at least in the high season. If you want to visit all the monuments of the square we recommend this tour that will allow you, among other things, to save time skipping the lines. But if you do not want to spend money and with the simple fact of admiring from outside so much beauty you are satisfied ... Another option is to pay entrance to the Doge's Palace (€ 20) which allows you to have access to the 4 museums in the square, including the Bridge of Sighs and prisons.

A short distance from Plaza San Marco is the Bridge of Sighs, one of the most beautiful and romantic corners of the city, which in the past, however, represented one of the saddest: the condemned prisoners passed through that bridge for the last time before being executed. So the sighs weren't love ... ains! This is a good point if you want to hire a gondola tour crowning a love trip or just stop for a little while to rest. If instead you prefer to eat a good (and cheap) pasta, we continue with our low cost itinerary that instead of the loving gondola, starts up your stinky feet (hey, after so much trajín it is normal, do not be offended).

Did I say pasta? Yes, I said it: we advise you to stop eating at 'Dal Moro's Fresh Pasta to go'. Already, we know, the name is a cow poop (not for nothing huh, it just seems very long!) But the pasta is very rich and that is what matters. Here you will have to choose the type of pasta you prefer (remember: penne has two 'n', pronounce it well if you do not want the chef to look at you badly) and then your favorite sauce (there is a world beyond the Bolognese). After a few minutes they will deliver your pasta ready to go and you can eat it quietly on the banks of a Venetian canal. Is there anything more romantic? Time is running and we have to use each and every one of the minutes we have left in the city, what we propose to spend the afternoon is something that many travelers and tourists do not even know there is: Venice ghetto. Its historical importance is enormous: it was the oldest Jewish quarter in Europe and one of the most populous in the world. A walk through its streets that fuses Jewish culture and Venetian art is something highly recommended, in addition to that you can run into shops and restaurants kosher, with symbols of the Jewish religion and even with the 5 synagogues of the city.
