If you go to travel to Berlin In the coming weeks, you can enjoy one of the undoubtedly most attractive events that take place in the German capital.

I mean the Festival of Lights 2011, which is celebrated from October 12 to 23, and in the numerous monuments and unique buildings they are extolled at night with a very special lighting.

This lighting festival, which celebrates its seventh edition, is considered one of the most important in the world, and it includes prestigious designers and artists who show original illuminations of the most significant monuments and buildings in Berlin.

The headquarters and the opening ceremony of the Festival of Lights 2011 takes place in Postdamer Platz, at 7.30 pm, with the special lighting of the Kollhoff Tower and the Piano House.

In this year 2011, 19 monuments and buildings, 10 streets and two squares are illuminated, every day between 19 and 24 hours. The most prominent buildings that light up are the Berlin Dom Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate, Postdamer Platz, Gendarmenmarkt, the street Kurfurstendamm and the Television Tower of Alexanderplatz. And as a complement, various cultural activities and photography and video contests are developed.

In order to enjoy this special night lighting, the possibility of signing up for various types of tours is offered.

So, for example, you can sign up for a combined bus and boat tour which runs through the different monuments and illuminated streets. It leaves every day, from October 13 to 23, at 7 pm from “Hansabrücke” (Altonaer Straße / Levetzowstraße), and the price is 27 euros.

And if it's just a bus tour, with a duration of 105 minutes, the price is 13 euros.

But you can also make a carriage tour, with various modalities. For example, a 45-minute tour, which departs from the Brandenburg Gate between 19 and 24 hours, with capacity for six people, costs 95 euros. And the 75-minute tour costs 150 euros.
