Capitol Square in Toulouse in Midi-Pyrenees

When you arrive in Toulouse It is easy to understand why they call it the pink city.

Much of the buildings in this French city that is not far from Spain are built with reddish bricks and not with stones, historically more difficult to find in this region of southern France.

Toulouse It is a city not too large (400,000 inhabitants), whose historical center you can comfortably travel during a walk, and from which before having the chance to visit it, I only knew that it was not far from the Pyrenees and that it was the main headquarters of Airbus, currently, the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world.

Toulouse is marked by the passage of Garonne river; through its central streets it will still be easy to find typical wooden houses, with half-timbered facades, whose origin dates back to the Middle Ages.

In my recent trip through the Midi-Pyrénées region I have also discovered that Carlos Gardel It was possibly born in Toulouse, and for that reason, a tango festival is held every July.

And I also had the chance to see the majesty of the Basilica of San Sernín, the largest Romanesque church that stands in Europe.

But what has surprised me most about Toulouse is the great atmosphere that there are in its streets, even when night comes, where it is possible to dine in summer in a square full of crowded restaurant terraces. It does not look like a typical French city.
